Great Day

A great day in our nations history yesterday! I was truly excited to watch President Obama's inauguration. I have never been more interested in watching an inauguration and listening to Mr. President speak. I pray for him and his family that they will stay safe and that he will lead this country back to greatness.

So much for the snow

So, my wish came true in that we got some snow (if that is what you call it). We were suppose to get anywhere from 2-5 inches, well that didn't happen. We got a mere dusting of it, as you can see from the pictures. Christi, my sister, lives all of 15 miles east of us and they got 2 inches. I am happy for them but GRRRR! Why didn't we? We still took Vince and Morgan outside and enjoyed what little we had.

Chills... that is what I got when Joe told me there had been a plane crash and it was a plane coming from LaGuardia to Charlotte. Joe and I have been on that flight so many times and you never think of something like that happening. When I heard that all the women and children got off the plane first all I could think about was if we were on that plane and had to leave Joe behind. That would impossible to do, but thankfully we weren't and thank God that all of the passengers and crew members made it off alive. It was amazing to see how all of the boats raced to the plane to help the people. It does prove that there are still good people in this world and that there is hope...

Please let it snow!

I was watching the local news tonight and the weatherman was talking about the Mountains of NC getting 3-5" of snow tonight and tomorrow. It started to make me sad for Vince and Morgan that they will never get to enjoy snow like Joe and I did when we were young. I started thinking about when I was a kid and when it would snow. I will never forget, and I'm sure all the Radfordians that read this will remember, when it snowed everyone would go to McHarg Elementary School to go sleigh riding down the awesome hill that is there. Mom, Dad, Christi, Meg and I would all go and ride down the hill a hundred times. People would make ramps out of the snow and we would see how far we would jump and how fast you would go down the hill. After what felt like hours of sleigh riding we go home and take our wet clothes off and put warm, dry ones on. The best part of it all...Mom would make hot chocolate. The best hot chocolate ever with milk and real chocolate, not the instant stuff. And if it snowed enough, Mom would make snow ice cream for us to enjoy. Man, was that great! I guess living in Charlotte we wont see much, if any, snow but I wish just once it would snow inches, and I mean a lot of inches, so Vince and Morgan could enjoy it. So I say, bring on the snow!

Where has the year gone?

Happy Birthday Morgan! I can't believe that our baby is a year old today. It feels like yesterday that I just had her. I had forgotten how much a baby changes in a year. She is walking, almost running trying to keep up with Vince and she is definitely getting into everything. Morgan wasn't quite sure what to think of today. Vince helped open all of her presents and she didn't like us singing "Happy Birthday" nor did she like the cake in the beginning. She was playing with the frosting like it was playdoh so I ended up feeding it to her with a fork. Some how she still managed to get it all over herself. Straight to the bathtub it was...
